TECHNICAL MILESTONES AT FINNVOX
1994
A second Sonic Solutions CD-mastering system is installed.
1995
A-, B- and C-studios receive Pro Tools III digital recording software.
1997
F-studio is finished, along with Finnvox's first surround monitoring system. A fourth SSL desk and another copy of Pro Tools III are installed.
1998
Pro Tools I 24 is installed on all workstations.
1999
Mastering studio G is finished, featuring 5.1
monitoring.
2002
All four Pro Tools workstations are upgraded to HD. The new mastering studio H is finished, and the third Sonic Solutions High Density mastering system is installed. 2004
C- and D-studios receive 5.1-monitoring
2005
B-studio receives a new SSL-desk, Neve 1081 preamps, 5.1 monitoring and an Aviom listening system.
2006
A-studio receives a new Digidesign ICON D-Command desk, as well as 5.1 monitoring with Genelec 8200 monitors. E studio is renovated.
2008
F-studio is renovated and a separate singing booth is built. The old SSL-desk is replaced with an ICON and new preamps, including a NEVE, API and Portico.
2010
The cinepost studio is built, specifically designed for surround mixing. A floating room for dub- and foley recording is built along with cinepost. G-studio is renovated.
2011
E-studio is renovated. Cinepost receives an Euphonix system 5-MC controller. A Voxbox client-server replaces the old Digidelivery system for web-based file transfer. 2012
C- and A-studio are renovated.
2013
D-studio is renovated. A new high-tech coffee maker is causing confusion in the breakroom.
2014
All recording and mixing studios, along with Cinepost receive HDX-Pro Tools. A field-recording kit is also acquired.
2015
B-studio is renovated.
2016
H-studio is changed into a production-space.
2017
A Dolby Atmos -compatible 7.1.2 listening system is installed in Cinepost, making cinepost a Dolby Atmos Premix -studio. I-studio is renovated to become a mastering- and post production unit.
2018
C-Studio's live room is repurposed into a new sound editing unit for Cinepost.
2019
Renovation of the cafeteria. The production studio Room3 is built.
2021
F- and I-Studio are rebuilt and fitted with Dolby Atmos-monitoring. A complete multi-camera system for working remotely with our studios is installed.
2022
A-Studio gets a complete overhaul and Dolby Atmos-monitoring. The SSL-desk in C-Studio retires from Finnvox after almost 35 years of active duty.
1965
The first section of the house is finished, A-studio operates with a 4-track recorder. 1966
The pressing of records at Finnvox begins.
1967
The second section of the house is finished, along with B- and C-studios.
1969
Finnvox receives 8-track recorders and Dolby A -noise reduction units.
1974
The production of C-cassettes begins.
1975
8-track recorders are upgraded to 16-track recorders, and new desks are installed. 1980
C-studio is renovated.
1982
The 16-track recorders are upgraded to 24-track recorders.
1984
Computerized automation capabilities arrive at Finnvox.
1987
CD-mastering begins. The Dolby A -noise reduction is upgraded to Dolby SR.
1988
A new mastering studio for cassette tapes is being built along with D-studio. A Solid State Logic -mixing desk is installed in C-studio.
1990
A-studio is rebuilt, and B-studio is renovated. A- and B-studios receive SSL-desks as well.
1993
The first Sonic Solutions CD-mastering system is installed. E-studio is being built.
